How long does the drone inspection process take?
The process from contract signing to delivery of the completed report generally takes two to eight weeks, depending on the building, inspection scope, flight location, weather and regulatory approvals. Commercial drone operations in Singapore always require a CAAS Activity Permit and may require additional approvals depending on the aircraft, location and operating conditions. Approval times vary according to the complexity of the proposed operation. Can you fly a drone anywhere in Singapore?
We can obtain permits to operate in most parts of Singapore, although site-specific conditions may apply. Operations within five kilometres of Seletar Airport and Changi Airport require a tether system that connects the drone to a ground-based power supply and restricts its operating range. We have the required tether equipment and can conduct tethered flights. Operations near RSAF airfields and in central areas are typically restricted to weekends and public holidays. Protected areas around sensitive sites, buildings and parks may also require additional approvals and longer permit-processing times.
What is a drone tether system?
A drone tether system connects the drone to a ground-based power supply through a cable. The tether restricts the drone’s operating range to reduce the risk of a fly-away and replaces the onboard battery by supplying continuous power through the cable. If the cable is accidentally disconnected or cut, the drone cannot continue flying away from the operating area.
Can you fly the drone in any type of weather?
Although the drone may technically be capable of flying in rain, we do not operate in rainy conditions because they reduce image quality. Very strong winds can also affect image quality and create safety concerns. If weather conditions are unsuitable, we will reschedule the flight.
